This course explored the various approaches to curriculum in America, and asked the students involved to question the current system and develop a question to study. Each student used their own experiences to take a deeper look at the curriculum practices within their own districts and find a solution, or a way to address the problem.

This course introduced students to the concept of educational inquiry. It asked the students to expand their horizons, and taught them to question the status of education, and to look at different examples to help them come to a conclusion about their own view of education. The class gave examples from many perspectives, and was done in a way that was engaging and interesting.

KIN 857: Promoting Positive Youth Development Through Sport

This course discussed the various ways to promote positive development of youth through sport and physical activity. It drew on various informative texts and studies to point out the issues within youth sports, and encouraged the participants to develop their own course that would promote positive change. A topic that was discussed at great length was the early specialization of youth in sport, and the effect the phenomenon is having on the youth of America. An incredibly worthwhile text used in this course was Tom Farrey's, Game On: The All-American Race to Make Champions of Our Children.

This course asked students to explore the various platforms for online learning, and to select one to work with. The students then developed an online course for use in their individual programs. My course was actually put to the test in order to accommodate an English 12 class for more advanced learners in a blended learning format.

This course explored the various workings of the human body, and then applied that knowledge to the coaching of athletes. Different approaches to coaching and planning were introduced, and the participants were asked to do a great deal of research and to put together working plans, nutritional guidelines, and activities to put to use with their athletes.
